Bengal’s Turning Point: PM Modi Outlines Vision for Legal Equality and Industrial Revival in Jangipur

JANGIPUR, MURSHIDABAD – In a powerful address that has shifted the momentum of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the state is on the cusp of a “historic transition.” Speaking to a massive audience in Jangipur, the Prime Minister centered his message on the restoration of the rule of law, promising that a new administration would prioritize the safety and prosperity of every legal citizen over partisan interests.

The rally served as a platform for the Prime Minister to detail the “Double-Engine” governance model, which seeks to synchronize state development with national infrastructure projects to unlock Bengal’s dormant economic potential.

A Unified Legal Framework: The UCC Guarantee

The Prime Minister’s most significant policy announcement was the commitment to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He framed this not merely as a legal change, but as a fundamental step toward social justice and the protection of women’s rights.

“For too long, the law has been applied selectively to benefit specific vote banks,” the Prime Minister stated. He argued that a unified set of laws would eliminate the “culture of appeasement” that has allegedly hindered the state’s progress. By ensuring that every citizen is governed by the same standards, the proposed reform aims to create a more transparent and equitable society, particularly for those in marginalized communities who have felt neglected by current administrative practices.

Economic Rebirth: Empowering Women and Youth

Addressing the economic struggles of the region, PM Modi unveiled a roadmap for direct financial empowerment. He critiqued the existing welfare systems for their lack of transparency and promised a more robust, direct-to-benefit (DBT) model.

  • Financial Independence for Women: The Prime Minister highlighted a plan to provide ₹3,000 monthly to women, aiming to give them the financial autonomy needed to support their families and pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Support for the Next Generation: Recognizing the high rate of migration among Bengal’s youth, he announced a ₹3,000 monthly stipend for graduates to assist with their career transitions and professional training.
  • The One-Crore Jobs Initiative: He pledged a massive industrial push focused on the food-processing and manufacturing sectors, promising to generate one crore jobs over the next five years.

Restoring Security and Border Integrity

A major theme of the Jangipur address was the restoration of security along the border districts. The Prime Minister took a firm stance against illegal infiltration and smuggling, which he claimed had undermined the local economy and social fabric.

He promised a modernized border management system and a “zero-tolerance” policy toward administrative corruption that facilitates illegal entry. “The resources of Bengal belong to the people of Bengal,” he noted, asserting that a secure border is the first step toward a stable and prosperous state.

Ending the ‘Syndicate’ Era

The Prime Minister concluded his speech by calling for an end to what he described as the “Syndicate Raj”—a system of localized extortion and middlemen. He promised that a “Double-Engine” government would ensure that central funds for housing, water, and healthcare reach the intended beneficiaries without any deductions or delays.

Invoking the spirit of legendary Bengali icons, PM Modi urged the voters to cast their ballots for a “Sonar Bangla” (Golden Bengal) that leads the nation in innovation and industry. As the election phases on April 23 and 29 approach, the Jangipur rally has undoubtedly set a new benchmark for the political discourse in the state.
