Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant extended his greetings to devotees on the occasion of the revered Shree Devi Lairaee Jatra, emphasizing its deep cultural and spiritual significance for the region and beyond.

Addressing the gathering in Shirgao, the Chief Minister noted that the Shree Devi Lairaee Devasthan holds immense faith not only for the people of Goa but also for devotees from neighboring states like Karnataka and Maharashtra, who visit the temple in large numbers to seek blessings during the annual festival.

He highlighted the unique traditions associated with the Jatra, particularly the importance of “Mogra” (jasmine flowers), which play a special role in the celebrations. Extending his wishes, he acknowledged the efforts of farmers and cultivators who contribute to the festival by growing these flowers, recognizing their role in preserving cultural practices.

Pramod Sawant also assured that the administration has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the event. He stated that detailed disaster management and evacuation plans have been put in place, reflecting the government’s focus on public safety amid large gatherings of devotees.

The Shree Devi Lairaee Jatra is one of Goa’s prominent religious events, drawing thousands of pilgrims every year. The festival is known for its vibrant rituals, deep-rooted traditions, and strong community participation, making it a significant part of the state’s cultural identity.

“I wish for the success of this Jatra,” the Chief Minister said, expressing hope that the celebrations proceed peacefully and bring prosperity and blessings to all participants.

The event once again highlights the rich cultural heritage of Goa, where devotion, tradition, and community spirit come together in grand celebrations that attract people from across regions.
