VERNA, GOA — Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has praised the successful आयोजन of a large-scale job fair in Verna, describing it as a major step toward improving employment opportunities for the youth of the state.
Speaking at the event, Sawant said that the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation organised a mega job fair that saw over one lakh young people register online, reflecting the high level of interest and demand for employment opportunities among the state’s youth. He called the response encouraging and said it shows the aspirations of young people to build stable careers.
The Chief Minister highlighted that around 1,000 companies from various sectors, including IT, pharmaceuticals, and other industries, participated in the job fair. These companies not only conducted interviews but also offered on-the-spot appointment letters to selected candidates, making the event highly effective and result-oriented.
Sawant described the initiative as a new and innovative approach by the state government, aimed at connecting job seekers directly with private sector employers. He said that this model reduces the burden on the government to create jobs while still ensuring that youth have access to meaningful employment opportunities.
He emphasised that the goal of the initiative is to bridge the gap between job seekers and industry requirements, ensuring that young people are able to find jobs that match their skills and qualifications. According to him, such efforts are essential in today’s competitive environment, where skill alignment and industry readiness play a crucial role.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged the important role played by the Verna Industrial Association in supporting and organising the event. He said that collaboration between the government and industry bodies is key to creating sustainable employment opportunities.
He further noted that around 1,300 vacancies within the Verna Industrial Estate were specifically made available for local youth, ensuring that Goan boys and girls could benefit directly from the initiative. This, he said, reflects the government’s commitment to prioritising local employment.
Sawant added that the government took additional steps to make the event accessible by providing transport facilities for participants, ensuring that candidates from different parts of the state could attend the job fair without difficulty.
He congratulated the organisers, participating companies, and industry partners for making the event a success. He said that such initiatives not only provide immediate job opportunities but also boost confidence among youth and encourage them to actively participate in the job market.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that employment generation remains a key priority for the state government, and efforts are being made to create a favourable environment for industries to grow and hire more people. He said that by strengthening partnerships with the private sector, the government can expand job opportunities across various fields.
Experts believe that such large-scale job fairs can play a crucial role in addressing unemployment by bringing together employers and job seekers on a single platform, making the hiring process faster and more efficient.
Sawant concluded by saying that the government will continue to support similar initiatives in the future, with the aim of ensuring that every young person in Goa has access to employment opportunities and a chance to build a secure future.
The Verna job fair stands as a significant example of how collaboration between government and industry can create meaningful employment opportunities, helping to empower youth and strengthen the state’s economy.
