PANAJI, GOA — Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced a new career counselling initiative called “Career Jagor”, aimed at helping students make better decisions about their future careers.
Speaking in Panaji, Sawant said that the programme has been organised by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and will mainly focus on students of Classes 10 and 12, who are at a crucial stage of choosing their career paths.
He explained that under this initiative, one teacher from every school in Goa will be selected and trained as a “career ambassador.” These teachers will be specially trained to guide students about different career options, opportunities, and the skills required for various fields.
The Chief Minister said that the programme will begin from April 24 and will be implemented across the state in a structured manner. Initially, selected teachers will be trained as master trainers, who will then conduct sessions at the school level.
Sawant added that the master trainers will be school teachers themselves, and they will be regularly updated and trained to stay informed about new career trends and opportunities. This will ensure that students receive accurate and useful guidance.
He said that many students face confusion while deciding their future after school, and often lack proper guidance. The “Career Jagor” programme aims to address this issue by helping students understand their interests, strengths, and available career options.
According to him, the education department is working actively to improve career awareness among students, so that they can make informed decisions and build a successful future.
He also highlighted that this programme will create a strong support system within schools, where students can easily seek advice from trained teachers instead of relying on external sources.
The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of students across Goa by providing them with the right direction at the right time.
The ‘Career Jagor’ programme reflects the Goa government’s focus on student development and its commitment to preparing young people for future opportunities through proper guidance and support.
