PANAJI, GOA — Goa Director General of Police Alok Kumar has said that swift and coordinated action was taken by law enforcement authorities following the registration of an FIR against Gautam Khattar over controversial remarks related to St. Xavier’s.
Addressing the media in Panaji, the DGP stated that the Goa Police acted immediately upon receiving the complaint, registering a case without delay and constituting a dedicated investigation team to probe the matter. He emphasised that the police treated the case with seriousness, given its sensitive nature.
Kumar said that during the course of the investigation, authorities received information that the main accused, Gautam Khattar, was located in Dehradun. Acting on this lead, a police team was promptly dispatched to the city, where they coordinated closely with the Uttarakhand Police to track his movements and gather further evidence.
He further informed that, in order to ensure a more comprehensive and specialised investigation, the case has now been transferred to the Crime Branch, which is equipped to handle complex and sensitive cases. This move, according to the DGP, will help streamline the probe and ensure that all aspects are thoroughly examined.
In a significant development, the police have arrested a co-accused, Madhav Khattar, who is believed to be linked to the case. Kumar stated that the arrest marks an important step forward in the investigation and will assist authorities in uncovering further details about the incident and the individuals involved.
The DGP also revealed that a Look Out Circular (LOC) has been issued against the main accused, Gautam Khattar, to prevent him from evading law enforcement or leaving the country. This measure is typically used in cases where there is a possibility of the accused attempting to flee.
Kumar expressed confidence that the main accused will be apprehended soon, stating that efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest him at the earliest. He assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure that the accused is brought to justice.
