President Droupadi Murmu has called upon teachers to shape generations of students who develop a scientific outlook, ethical values and a strong spirit of “nation first”.
In an article titled ‘Shaping Minds; Building the Future’, released on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the President emphasised the important role educators play in developing not only successful students but also responsible and compassionate citizens.
President Murmu said it is the sacred duty of teachers to guide students towards becoming good human beings.
She emphasised that a teacher’s success should not be measured only by academic achievements. Students who attain prosperity and recognition while remaining ethical in their thoughts and actions, she said, are embodiments of a teacher’s success.
The President also highlighted the trust placed in teachers by parents and guardians when they send their children to school.
President Murmu stressed the importance of creating an educational environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, think independently and develop sound judgement.
She said teachers should ignite curiosity, encourage independent thought and strengthen students’ capacity for argument and decision-making.
Such an approach, according to the President, can help students become confident and independent individuals capable of responding creatively to emerging challenges.
The President called upon teachers to nurture students who develop a scientific outlook and use their knowledge for the welfare of humanity.
She also encouraged educators to help students appreciate India’s cultural heritage and traditions while developing a forward-looking approach based on knowledge, innovation and responsible citizenship.
This balance between cultural values and scientific thinking, she said, can contribute to the development of future generations.
President Murmu urged teachers to inspire students to move forward with a “nation first” spirit.
She also highlighted values including Antyodaya, environmental protection, care for all living creatures, and individual and collective excellence.
The President noted that India is steadily moving towards the goal of becoming a developed nation, with social inclusion at the core of this journey.
Reflecting on the role of her own teachers, President Murmu said a loving and dedicated teacher can awaken a student’s limitless potential.
She noted that encouragement from teachers can give students the courage to face difficult challenges and the confidence to pursue ambitious goals.
According to the President, teachers contribute far beyond delivering the prescribed curriculum.
President Murmu said inspiring education can help create generations of successful entrepreneurs, brilliant scientists, creative artists and citizens capable of finding innovative solutions to emerging challenges.
She highlighted the teacher’s role in helping students develop the intellectual confidence and values needed to contribute meaningfully to society.
