Khelo India Dialogue on August 27 to Mark National Sports Day; PM Modi to Lead Interaction

Date:

On the occasion of National Sports Day 2026, the “Khelo India Dialogue – Khel Ki Baat, Pradhan Mantri Modi Ke Saath” will be organized across the country on August 27. Under this nationwide initiative, youth, athletes, and educational institutions will come together at more than 1,500 locations.

Through this dialogue, emerging young athletes will be able to directly share their thoughts, suggestions, and innovative ideas regarding the future of India’s sports and youth ecosystem. With the participation of IITs, IIMs, NITs, AIIMS, and other leading medical colleges and universities, this initiative will provide the youth with an effective platform for the development of sports.

A key feature of this initiative is that young sports enthusiasts will be able to interact directly with prominent Indian athletes—such as Dipa Karmakar, Saina Nehwal, Gagan Narang, Mary Kom, Mirabai Chanu, and P.T. Usha—who will share their journeys and experiences. The program will also provide youth with the opportunity to engage with Union and State Ministers, Members of Parliament, and Members of Legislative Assemblies, allowing their views and suggestions on four core themes to be heard.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a virtual address at this event. Young participants will discuss four key themes: strengthening the sports ecosystem and expanding grassroots facilities, coaching and opportunities; enhancing youth leadership and participation in governance; preparing talent for the 2036 Olympics through scientific talent identification and athlete development; and empowering the youth through future-ready skills, volunteering and nation-building opportunities.

The initiative will also feature the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue Quiz and promote registration on the MY Bharat Portal for continued youth engagement. This initiative will inspire young people to connect directly with renowned athletes and policymakers. It will provide them with a platform to learn, share ideas, and contribute to shaping the country’s sports and youth development agenda.
